The Future of Home Building

Did you know that your home could achieve an ENERGY STAR label? That is right, if you are planning on building a new home we can work with you, your builder and your architect to achieve the much sought after ENERGY STAR label.

Here is a work summary for an ENERGY STAR rating.

Project Rating: From the architectural drawings a "projected rating" of the building will be established. From this "projected rating" a list of recommendations with be provided. Making these improvements is the first step in achieving the ENERGY STAR label.

Pre-Drywall Inspection: After construction has begun the certified rater will visit the site and perform the requisite Thermal By-Pass Inspection. This inspection covers many items essential to an energy efficient home.

Performance Testing: After completion of the home, the certified rater will visit the site once more for the final performance testing including a blower door test, duct leakage and combustion appliance safety test.

Certification: The final "confirmed rating" will then be provided and a HERS Score will be given to the building. A HERS Score of 85 or less will achieve the ENERGY STAR label.
