That is why our Home Performance Test is a "whole-house" diagnostic evaluation. The performance test takes approximately three hours, depending upon house size and accessibility. What can I expect the day of the Home Performance Test?

The first and most valuable step of a Home Performance Test is the homeowner interview. This interview is conducted the day of the test – before the diagnostic evaluation. Please allow approximately 20 minutes for your interview, and have your current gas and electric bills handy for review. Our certified inspector will need them to calculate your energy usage. Utility bills act as a scorecard, measuring whether retrofits and behavior changes will actually save energy and money.

After the homeowner interview, our certified inspector will do a diagnostic evaluation - using a combustion analyzer, blower door and an infrared camera to assess your home. Your home’s data will be compiled in a Home Performance Report, and sent to you within four business days. This customized report answers an important question. Does it make sense to proceed with retrofitting? Some retrofits are relatively simple “Do-it-Yourself” projects like switching your incandescent lights bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs. More involved retrofits such as sealing air leaks in attics and basements are more suitable for professional retrofitter like West Penn Energy Audits.
